Napa, CA – Visit the Wineries of Oakville, Napa Valley’s Hidden Gem
You’ve probably heard the old expression, “Blink and you’ll miss it.”
When visitors come to Napa Valley, they often miss the tiny town of Oakville as they rush to get to more commonly known destinations like Calistoga or St. Helena. But for those into great wine, Oakville is worth a second glance. Nestled between the Vaca Mountains in the east and the Mayacamas Mountains on the western border with Sonoma, the area is just two miles wide.
Oakville began as a water stop for the Napa Valley Railroad, which carried passengers from ferry boats in Vallejo to Calistoga. Named for the thick groves of oak trees in the valley and on the hillsides, Oakville and its sister city Rutherford are home to 60 wineries, both small and large. Some say it’s the best and most prestigious winegrowing area in all of California. If you know Mondavi, Far Niente, Silver Oak, you have experienced the excellence of the wine of the Oakville appellation.
Known in particular for its Cabernets and Merlots, this area is adored for its exquisite wines and also the Oakville Grocery, which is a throwback to a 1920s grocery store.
This very special region of the Napa Valley inspired me to create my Oakville Collection. The cuff bracelets from this collection are a perfect balance of texture, color and style. From 10 to 20mm bands of fine Italian leathers to tiny strands of braided leather, chained and studded, the combinations come together to create bracelets of luxurious distinction—just like the wines of Oakville.
One of my favorite pieces in the Oakville Collection in my online jewelry store is the Golden Brown Leather Cuff . A delightful 20 mm cuff of golden brown Italian leather is shown off perfectly with an array of beads of bronze and shining gold snuggled up to a speckled ceramic bead in creamy white, luscious orange and spots of brown. The easy to use magnetic clasp makes it a simple wrap and snap onto your wrist and out the door you go for the discovery of exquisite Oakville wines.
